RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM

Many families contact Glenwood because they are searching for a safe, structured, supervised and disciplined environment where their children can develop the self-esteem, values and social skills crucial for success in life. The cornerstone of Glenwood School is our Residential Program. Children live in residence halls called “cottages” with 10 to 12 other children and houseparents, who serve as role models and are responsible for all aspects of students’ residential lives. Students live on campus Sunday through Friday, share meals in the dining hall and return home on weekends and holidays. Since Glenwood is a 12-month program, during summer vacations many students stay on campus and participate in a variety of educational and recreational programs, or attend our camp in northern Wisconsin.

Families play a vital role in the child’s life and both campuses strive to develop strong partnerships with families by offering support, guidance and education, not only for the students but for other family members as well.

Recreation, tutoring, counseling, student employment, woodworking and community service are among the activities that occur daily in the Residential Program. Each component of the program strives to reflect Glenwood’s mission to serve children from lower income, single parent families and to provide them with opportunities to grow and succeed.
