CAMP GETSCHOW

For students and their families, the beginning of summer is often met with both excitement and concern. Excitement that they thrived in building both academic and life skills during the past year, and concern about what they will do this summer. Summer break can be particularly challenging for at-risk children and their families.

For more than 60 years, Glenwood students have enjoyed a wonderful solution to that challenge – attending summer camp at Glenwood’s Camp Getschow located in northern Wisconsin.

The Facts on Glenwood’s Camp Getschow:

    • Camp Getschow is located on 180 heavily wooded acres on
Blaisdell Lake in Loretta, Wisconsin, near the Chequamegon
       National Forest.

   • It is an ideal place to enjoy hiking, archery, swimming,
sailing, canoeing, fishing, boating, sports, Native American
folklore, plus evening activities that promote teamwork and
      sportsmanship.

   • Campers attend at least one three-week session or if
resources are available, two three-week sessions

   • Glenwood kids from over 40 low-income communities across
Chicagoland have the opportunity to participate in a traditional
summer camp experience, all while maintaining the continuity
of the Glenwood culture—courage, character, and community.

   • Camp Getschow helps keep our students safe and busy so
they continue to make good choices and come back to school
prepared to learn in the fall.

You can help send a Glenwood child to camp this summer. Just look at what you can do:

Provide Equipment For the Campers
At Camp children hike, canoe, swim, and play games. With a $50 gift you can provide the life vests for 2 campers. A $100 gift purchases fishing poles for four campers.

Ensure The Basic Needs of the Campers
Campers attend one three-week session or if resources are available, two three-week sessions. A $500 gift provides all of the food at Camp for one day. With a $1,000 gift campers can benefit from new outdoor sports equipment.

Sponsor a Camper
You can help make summer camp a reality for kids from over 40 low-income communities across Chicagoland. A $1,500 gift sponsors one camper for three weeks. With a gift of $3,750, you can sponsor the entire camp for one day!

Summer is a time for kids of all ages to learn and have fun. Your gift can help make that possible this summer for some very special kids. Together we can give them a summer to remember and memories for a lifetime. Click here to donate today
